Special Heiva (10th Anniversary)
(Only a few bottles made due to precious vintage materials, to be Shipped by August 1. Having blue glass tops hand blown for this which is why I am doing pre-sell in advance. This is the first Heiva to focus solely on pineapple as the Heiva fruit)
Organic pineapple, Tiare flowers, frangipani, a heavy dose of Thai Blue Lotus (Nymphea Caerula), Mysore Sandalwood 1965, white Aotearoa ambergris, a kiss of the Umu Ti (or Firewalk) lava stones, Tahitian vanilla from Taha'a
Heiva means to come together and is the name of the celebration that began in Tahiti to celebrate Mā’ohi culture: sports, va'a and dancing and is now celebrated around the world. I was lucky enough to get my hands on some rare and precious vintage Mysore sandalwood along with an extra fruited blue Lotus distillation and decided to do a special pineapple extraction for this years Heiva. Blue lotuses grow in many of the lagoons across the 121 Tahitian islands, and in this perfume helps capture turquoise watery smell that envelops you among the tiares and the ocean air. The Umu Ti, the smell from the Firewalk that opens the Heiva each year blends in with the vintage sandalwood for a surprising whisp of burning embers- almost the smell of timelessness. That's what this vintage sandalwood smells like to me, that sense of the eternal that you get when coming together with family and community. Though sandalwood can grow in Tahiti (though more commonly in Hawai'i), much like pineapple and blue lotus, it is not native to the isalnds: a wonderful reminder that much like so many flowers, we are all voyagers and that borders are just imaginary.
